Beenleigh has a long history. It was originally settled in the mid 1800's as a large dairy and timber town together with small crop growing. As the country became cleared sugar cane growing became very popular as indeed did the distilling of Rum. The Rum Runners moved in and many a story is told about those heady days - those days when a number of steamers used the rivers and the local area for their fun times.

Today Beenleigh is a large township which is situated the Gold Coast Highway and Railway line approximately halfway between both. It still serves a large rural community, still mainly sugar cane growing and of course the Rum distillery is still there and many people have enjoyed a drop of Beenleigh Rum. A large ethanol plant is also situated near by. Beenleigh is home to over 41 thousand people and has been growing by over 1000 people each year since 1991. It's an ideal place to live being within 30 minutes drive to both Brisbane the capital of Queensland and the centre of the Gold Coast, Southport and Surfers Paradise, probably the capital of Tourism in Australia.

The population is mainly concentrated in the younger age groups. With 34% of residents being under 20 years of age, 32% between 20-40 years, 23% from 40-60 years and 11% are over 60 years. Beenleigh is well serviced with a good shopping centre, preschools, primary schools and secondary schools, both public and private and hosts of recreational facilities and all sporting codes are very well catered for. Bordered by both the Albert and Logan River this area is within an easy 15 minutes boat ride to the pleasures of Moreton Bay. The theme parks namely, Movie World and Dream World at Coomera are ly 15 minutes drive away. A great location and a great relaxed lifestyle awaits you.
